Samir Mehta planted the tree in remembrance of his grandfather Professor NB Sawardekar. He would have been 100 years old on the 4th of February. Apart from being an of Physics and the Vice Principal of the National Defense Academy (NDA), he was also an avid gardener. He grafted his variety of mangoes as well as roses in his home in Bavdhan.
His grandfather believes that preserving the environment is very important. This plantation would benefit both the present and future generations.
